Arrowhead Golf Club

2023 Denver, Co

In 2023, we embarked on an epic road trip from Kansas City to Denver, dubbing it 'The Year of the Bus.' Our trusty 15-passenger bus became our home on wheels as we journeyed to the Mile High City. Some of us flew in, converging at our best AirBnb yet, setting the stage for a golfing adventure unlike any other.

This year, we focused on celebrating the artistry of golf course architecture, immersing ourselves in the history and design of each course we played.

Our first stop was The Golf Club at Bear Dance, where we were greeted by sweeping views of the Rocky Mountains. Designed by Jay Morrish and D.A. Weibring, Bear Dance is more than just a golf course – it's a testament to the land and its people. Each hole is meticulously crafted to blend seamlessly with the natural terrain, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience that pays homage to the indigenous heritage of the area.

Next, we teed off at Arrowhead Golf Club, a course renowned for its stunning red rock formations and breathtaking vistas. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., Arrowhead is a masterpiece of modern golf architecture, seamlessly integrating the rugged beauty of Colorado's landscape into its design. Each hole is a work of art, inviting players to test their skills against nature's grandeur while uncovering the rich history that lies beneath the surface.

Our journey continued at Riverdale Dunes, a hidden gem nestled along the South Platte River. Designed by Pete and Perry Dye, Riverdale Dunes is a testament to the Dye family's legacy in golf course design. Its rolling fairways and challenging greens offer a true test of skill, while its history as a former military base adds a unique sense of nostalgia to the experience.

Finally, we found ourselves at CommonGround Golf Course, a public course with a rich history and a commitment to preserving the traditions of the game. Designed by Tom Doak and Renaissance Golf Design, CommonGround is a tribute to the golden age of golf architecture. Its minimalist design and strategic layout pay homage to the roots of the game, providing a sanctuary for golfers to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.

But our trip wasn't just about golf. We explored the vibrant city of Denver, indulging in local cuisine and culture. And of course, there were moments of laughter and camaraderie – like the time we accidentally almost walked off with someone's golf clubs! Yet, amidst all the excitement, the true highlight of our trip was the hours spent relaxing in the hot tub, sharing stories and making memories that will last a lifetime.
